Folic acid supplements should be made mandatory worldwide, medical experts say

Switzerland: Doctors and scientists have called for a global resolution to make folic acid mandatory. Details have been published in the international journal Lancet, which was written as a research paper by the Emory Institute, the G4 Alliance, and the global disease prevention organization Spina Bifida.

If women consume folic acid during pregnancy, it benefits both the mother and the baby. On the one hand, in children the process of shortening of the head is reduced and the defects of the spinal cord are also removed. 30 years of research has shown that folic acid tablets are safe in every way and only 60 countries have included it in flour, corn and rice.

Many organizations have called on the World Health Assembly, held on the sidelines of the World Economic Conference, to act immediately and to legislate for a wide range of folic acid-containing foods under a global resolution.
Only 25% of the world’s population has access to folic acid, said Dr. Vijay Conchrela of the Emory Institute. Folic acid protects against the dreaded disease called spina bifida and can cure scalp defects in children all over the world.
